INRA - How to reduce food loss and waste in urban areas ?

The evolution of urban lifestyle is often put forward to explain the significant increase of food losses and waste. Many reduction measures, both prevention and recovery, food losses and waste have already been proposed or experienced by urban communities, businesses and citizens. They mobilize technical changes, organizational, regulatory and standards that should be analyzed in the light of changes in food systems and urban contexts.

This conference builds on a study by a group of international experts led by INRA, on optimizing human consumption and reducing city waste. It provides a detailed analysis of the levers, opportunities and obstacles to the development of urban food systems "zero waste," according to the outlook for these systems.

It is intended for actors of local authorities, the voluntary sector, business and research.
