Versarien Plc (LON:VRS) has teamed up with E3D Online Ltd, a 3D printing specialist, to carry out initial trials using graphene.

The advanced materials group told investors that graphene would be incorporated into the 3D printing process as part of the new trials.

It aims to find out whether 3D printed parts can benefit from the ‘exception properties’ of graphene provided by Versarien’s 2D-Tech subsidiary.

"We are always looking for new and innovative applications for our graphene technology and we look forward to collaborating with E3D Online Ltd in progressing this potential use for graphene in 3D printed products,” said Neil Ricketts, Versarien chief executive.

E3D Online director of research and development Sanjay Mortimer, meanwhile, said: “E3D is constantly seeking to push boundaries in what is possible to achieve with 3D printing.
